About the New Jersey
Flood Institute
The New Jersey Flood Institute is the research and outreach arm of the New Jersey Coastal Coalition. Formed in response to the 2012 Super Storm Sandy, the New Jersey Coastal Coalition is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization, whose mission is to build more resilient communities at the Jersey Shore. This group of New Jersey waterfront communities meets monthly to discuss common municipal flooding issues.
Through our partnership with the New Jersey Coastal Coalition, the New Jersey Flood Institute will share its findings and become a resource for New Jersey communities as they adapt to changing ecological conditions.
Our Mission
The mission of the New Jersey Flood Institute (NJFI) is to develop solutions that will build more resilient communities in New Jersey. The institute does this by using Atlantic County as an incubator for developing strategies that will enable communities to become more resilient by mitigating the risks associated with flooding and extreme weather. Through our partnership with the New Jersey Coastal Coalition, NJFI the will share its findings and become a resource for New Jersey communities as they adapt to changing ecological conditions.
Coastal Coalition
The New Jersey Coastal Coalition is a group of New Jersey waterfront communities that meet monthly in a workshop setting, to discuss common municipal flooding issues. Formed in response to the 2012 Super Storm Sandy, we have met regularly since January 2013. Meetings are usually held on the first Thursday of each month at various participant facilities.
